Job Title: Medical Assistant
Employment Classification: Non-exempt, Hourly, Monday-Friday and every other Saturday
Travel: Occasional travel to Snapper or West Kendall as needed for coverage
Position Summary
The Medical Assistant is responsible for demonstrating knowledge and application of job duties within scope of practice and functions under the direction of his/her manager(s) and/or Director(s); respectfully interacts with all levels of staff; provides direct care, as needed, during assigned duty hours; participates in department activities; promotes independence; adherence to the attendance policy; encourages socialization; advocates for the quality of life of our patients while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws, regulatory and organizational standards; supports the companys core values.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
Get rooms ready for patients and prepare for patients each morning
Escort patients to a treatment room and prepare them for the doctors visit
Assist the doctor with tasks/procedures as ordered
Send prescriptions, complete care plans, and discharge summaries
Complete documentation in EMR
Scan any documents related to patients
Schedule appointments for outpatient procedures
Keep clinical area and exam rooms organized
Re-stock area, as needed, and order supplies through the approved clinic procedure
Keep samples and sample bags stocked on shelves
Prepare patient information folders
Prepare patient charts for upcoming appointments
Check patients in/out as needed
Other relevant duties as assigned by Manager/Director
Requirements
Abilities, Knowledge and Skills
Effective communication skills to include:
Ability to fluently speak and read English
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, handbooks, policies, patient care plans and procedure manuals
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and written, with all levels of staff and patients
Education, Prior Work Experience, Special Skill and Knowledge Requirements:
High school diploma
Certified Medical Assistant
Minimum of 2 years of experience in Medical Assisting preferred
Previous experience in allergy desired
Knowledge of medical terminology
CPR certification required
Strong computer skills
Experience with EMR preferred

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Specific communication abilities required by this job include the ability to talk and hear in order to converse with others, discern, convey, express oneself, and exchange information.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; lighting is in the standard range.
The employee is subject to infectious waste, potential exposure to allergens in concentrated forms, diseases and conditions.
