Job Summary:
The Health West Pharmacy Tech is friendly, energetic, detail-oriented individual who wants to work in a cutting-edge environment focused on individualized patient care. The primary purpose of the Pharmacy Technician in the care center and the retail pharmacy environment is to work independently and serve all patients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform computer entry of prescription information including but not limited to: patient search, prescriber search, drug selection, prescription interpretation and entry and basic problem resolution.
Accept customer and prescription information required to process refill prescriptions, including refill authorization and prior authorizations from doctor offices where permitted by state law and Health West protocol.
Perform all functions and duties of a Pharmacy Technician in the retail pharmacy setting when called upon to do so.
Detail Specific Experience/Responsibilities:
Engages patients by greeting them and offering assistance with pharmacy services.
Models and delivers a distinctive and delightful patient experience.
Resolves patient issues and answers questions to ensure a positive patient experience.
Assists in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, pharmacists, nurses and other health care providers.
Models and shares patient service best practices with all team members to deliver distinctive and delightful patient experience.
Complies with all company policies and procedures; maintains respectful relationships with coworkers.
Completes special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Experience/Responsibilities:
Minimum of 2 years experience as a certified technician in retail and/or hospital setting.
Ability to work independently and with fellow coworkers.
Ability to preserve confidentiality of information.
Ability and willingness to move with purpose and a strong sense of urgency.
Accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of tasks/projects.
Committed to providing patient service that makes both clinic and external patients feel welcome, important and appreciated.
Use and understand verbal, written and listening skills to interact with patients and colleagues.
Ability to use math to solve problems.
Demonstrate the ability to use computer skills including keyboarding and practical data entry into a data based software programs.
Able to type 50 words per minute.
Read and transcribe pharmaceutical information.
Must be flexible with work schedule to meet pharmacy department needs.
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or equivalent.
CPhT Certification through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
