Phlebotomist
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly
Shift: Monday Friday, 8am 5pm,
Travel to other locations is required. Mileage reimbursment offered.
Summary: Draws blood samples to be used for diagnostic tests, transfusions, or research.
Qualification Requirements
Must be proficient in collecting blood specimens from hard-to-find veins and will be required to travel to various other work locations from primary work location.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years phlebotomy experience required or a combination of education and experience.
Preferred experience with Orchard software, Laboratory Information Systems, and EPIC.
Passage of a criminal background check, OIG exclusion and drug screenings.
Valid drivers license and reliable transportation

Essential Functions
Uses various venipuncture methods to collect blood samples from patients. Transports samples to appropriate laboratories. 30%
Performs standard tests on blood samples. 20%
Processes samples for further examination. 10%
Explains all phlebotomy procedures to patients. 10%
Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.10%
Resolve unusual test orders by contacting the physician, nursing personnel, mid-levels, or laboratory personnel; refers unresolved orders back to the originator for further clarification; notifying supervisor of unresolved orders. 20%
Physical Demands
Hearing, visual acuity, talking.
Reaching, grabbing, holding fine motor skills.
Extended periods in a stationary or standing position.
Repetitive motion such as entering data into computer-based programs.
Lift or move up to 25 pounds. Employee is expected to use appropriate ergonomics and tools such as hand carts for heavier loads.
Work Environment
Work is normally performed in a typical interior office medical and laboratory environment. The noise level is usually moderate; however, may be higher on work benches during specimen processing. Some office environments have stairs.
